Meet our Team

We pride ourselves on being dedicated and reliable coaches. We’re passionate on getting children active through our educational programmes. Our main ethos is to develop positive attitudes around ‘fair play’ and to learn the respect for others. All coaches have their DBS annually checked and are first aid trained annually. All coaches complete a in-house training and safeguarding programme. Our team have are experienced and fully qualified teachers who’re passionate on providing children with the best experience whilst on our programmes.

George Hounsell, Founder and Head Coach

Founder and Head Coach George Hounsell started coaching in year 10 at secondary school. George has coached for numerous companies and clubs across the midlands including; Stoke City, Walsall and AFC Telford United. In 2017 he joined the temporary management team at West Midlands Premier side Wellington Amateurs. George is currently managing a academy team at conference side AFC Telford United and also runs numerous grassroots teams. In March 2017, George joined a unnamed premier league team as a ID Talent Scout.


Nikki Davies, Administrator and Coach 

Nikki has a great knowledge of childcare safety with Nikki completing an A Level in Childcare and various first aid courses for children. At a young age Nikki danced at various dance schools in Devon before dancing in patio’s closer to Shropshire. Nikki has great knowledge and experience in various sporting activities, with Nikki coaching various sports including Frisbee, Basketball and more!


Jemma Tonks, Administrator

Jemma joined The Little Sports Club in June 2017! Jemma has worked behind the scenes at numerous professional sporting clubs around the United Kingdom including Walsall FC, Worcester City and more!



Ashleigh Garbett, Sports Coach

Ashleigh has recently moved back to the Shropshire area after coaching in Buckinghamshire in various schools including two private schools, where she taught Netball and Lacrosse. Ashleigh is one of our most experienced coaches who has coached in more than 20 schools throughout the United Kingdom! Ashleigh ran the ‘Back to Netball’ project for England Netball for just over a year.



Courtnie Cassidy, Sports Coach

Courtnie moved back to Shropshire from Liverpool where she completed her BA(Hons) Degree in sport development with physical education. During her time at university she fulfilled her footballing career playing semi-professional football for Liverpool Ladies, before this Courtnie played for clubs such as West Bromwich Albion, Wolves Wanderers and TNS. Unfortunately, her career came to an end due to injury. Which is where Courtnie’s coaching career started, she wanted to stay involved in sport and coaching was that passion. Courtnie has coached in primary schools as a school sports coach in Shrewsbury for one year. From this she went onto working as a sports coach in Stoke-on-Trent working in over 20 different primary schools. 


Katie Minchin, Sports & Art Coach

Katie has a great background in various programmes we run at The Little Sports Club. She has taken part in Sport England’s Sports Leadership Award and completed a national diploma in performing arts when at college. Katie has got brilliant knowledge in the creative side of our programmes which see’s her running a lot of our Art Attack sessions!



Lauren Brown, Sports Coach

Lauren has played football throughout her childhood and had the pleasure of playing at a high standard for teams including Stoke City and currently playing for Crewe Alexandra. She started coaching after leaving school and has coached various football teams including Crewe Alexander. Lauren has also got her degree in sports coaching and development. She currently coaches the girls development teams at Wrexham FC and Crewe Alexander.


Tom Hounsell, Sports Coach

Tom started playing football when he was 6 years old playing in the Telford junior league. At a young age Tom joined Shrewsbury Town and went onto having trials at Walsall, Aston Villa and Manchester United. In future times, Tom has gone onto teams including Shawbury United, Chester City and Shifnal Town. Tom has been coaching for over 5 years throughout Shropshire.


Kevin Thornton, Assistant Coach

Kevin has played football since he was 6, he has played for many teams and loves playing in goal. He has played teams including Stoke City and Birmingham City. Kevin also had spells at Wolves and Aston Villa before moving onto local teams. Kevin has various sports qualifications including rock climbing and kayaking.



Jack Pickering, Assistant Coach

Jack has been playing football at a young age in the Telford and Burton area in various positions on the football pitch! Jack has recently joined AFC Telford United U18’s, where he will play in goal! Jack started coaching at a very young age and has coached for various coaching companies throughout Shropshire.





Chloe Robinson, Assistant Sports Coach 

During her schooling years, Chloe competed in numerous sporting competitions including Netball, Rounder’s, Badminton and more! From the age of 6 Chloe was a part of a dance school in Wolverhampton, where she took part in annual shows.




Rebekah McFarlane, Sports X Programme

From the age of 9, Rebekah has been a figure skater and competed in many competitions. She has also completed her figure skating qualifications. Outside of figure skating Rebekah has also learnt various dance programmes including ballet, tap, Greek and more!
